Wrexham AFC have officially awarded the long-awaited Kop stand redevelopment contract to McLaren Construction Midlands & North, marking another major step forward in the club’s historic rise and modernization project.

The new stand, part of the Racecourse Ground regeneration plan, will transform the iconic stadium into a top-class venue ready to meet Championship standards and beyond. Early construction work is set to begin this month, with completion targeted for the 2026/27 season. The new Kop stand is expected to boost capacity by several thousand seats, improving both fan experience and matchday atmosphere.

Co-chairmen Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have described the project as a “dream coming to life” — one that represents Wrexham’s growth from a non-league fairytale to a professional powerhouse with global attention. The redevelopment will not only enhance facilities for supporters but also strengthen Wrexham’s case for hosting major football and community events in North Wales.

Fans have waited decades for this transformation, and McLaren’s appointment signals that progress is finally becoming reality. The construction firm’s track record in sports infrastructure gives supporters confidence that the Kop’s rebirth will honor the club’s proud history while meeting modern expectations.

With the team competing in the Championship for the first time in over 40 years, this redevelopment perfectly captures Wrexham’s ambition — building for a future that’s as bright as its Hollywood story.
