According to writer Graeme Bailey, Manchester City forward Savinho is’really’ interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer deadline.
The Brazil international is apparently looking to leave North London in the last days of the summer transfer season, and Spurs are not giving up on him despite Manchester City’s tough position.
Pep Guardiola’s team is unlikely to part ways with the 21-year-old forward before the deadline, as his departure would require them to hunt elsewhere for a replacement.
Bailey reports Savinho was ‘unhappy’ with City’s decision to block his move to Tottenham, as he is really interested in working with Thomas Frank and is still hoping that the move can happen before the market closes on Monday.
According to Bailey, Tottenham are keeping an eye on Savinho’s status as the deadline approaches, but have made it plain to the Brazilian that they are also pursuing other targets:
“The City hierarchy’s stance on Savinho has always been consistent: they do not want him to leave. Yes, they expressed an interest in Rodrygo, but it was always tough, and they stuck to their position on Savinho.
“However, I’m told that Savinho truly wanted the Spurs move and still does; the window is open until Monday, and he hopes the trade may be completed.
“Spurs will remain attentive to the situation, should they get any encouragement; however, they have also made it clear to Savinho they are moving forward with other targets too.”
Savinho was a fixture in Pep Guardiola’s squad after moving from Girona to Manchester City last summer, making 48 appearances, scoring three goals, and contributing 13 assists in 2024-25.
The’superstar’ Brazilian forward will miss the start of the 2025/26 season due to an injury sustained during pre-season, but is anticipated to return around the September international break.
