Good News: Wrexham striker Mullin’s Wigan loan cut short, he’s returning back to….

Wrexham fans have been handed a timely boost this January as club legend Paul Mullin is set to return to the Racecourse Ground after his loan spell with Wigan Athletic was cut short. Manager Phil Parkinson confirmed the decision following Wrexham’s 2-1 Championship victory over Derby County, revealing that Mullin’s temporary move has been terminated and the striker will rejoin training with the first team this week.

Mullin, 31, has been one of the most iconic figures in Wrexham’s recent history. Since arriving from Cambridge United in 2021, he scored over 100 goals and played a pivotal role in the club’s historic rise through three divisions under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The loan to League One side Wigan Athletic was intended to provide Mullin with consistent match time after falling down the pecking order and struggling with injuries. Although he managed several appearances and goals for the Latics, he had been left out of Wigan’s matchday squads in recent weeks, prompting his early return.

Mullin remains under contract with Wrexham until 2027, and his return adds experience and depth to Parkinson’s Championship campaign. While his future role is yet to be fully defined — with talks scheduled between player and manager — supporters will be delighted to see one of their all-time favourites back in red.
